Retail Sales Associate

We're opening our first concept store in Stellenbosch this September, and we're looking for a Retail Sales Associate to be part of the founding team.

Role Description: This is a full-time, on-site position based at our new concept store in Stellenbosch Central. You'll be the face of Joma to our customers; welcoming them, understanding their sporting needs, and helping them find the right product.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and provide product recommendations based on their sport, activity, and preferences
• Process sales transactions accurately, including cash and card handling and basic POS reconciliation
• Maintain store displays, visual merchandising standards, and stock levels on the floor
• Assist with stock takes, replenishment, and back-of-store organisation
• Handle customer inquiries, exchanges, and returns professionally
• Support in-store promotions, launches, and events (including our opening campaign)
• Assist with store opening and closing procedures
• Keep the sales floor clean, organised, and on-brand at all times
• Work toward individual and store sales targets
• Build and apply in-depth product knowledge across the Joma range
• Collaborate with team members and follow company policies and brand standards

Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent
• Previous retail experience preferred, ideally in sports, footwear, or fashion
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Comfortable with sales targets and a proactive approach to reaching them
• Basic numeracy and computer literacy for POS and stock systems
• Own reliable transport to and from the Stellenbosch Central store
• Available to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays as needed
• Able to stand for extended periods in a fast-paced retail environment
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and a strong team player
• Clear criminal record
• Genuine interest in sport and an active lifestyle is an advantage

Compensation: Market-related basic salary plus commission on store sales, paid monthly. We're happy to discuss the full package with shortlisted candidates.

Location & Hours: Oude Postkantoor, corner of Bird and Plein Street, Stellenbosch Central. Store trading hours apply, including weekend and holiday shifts on a rotational basis.

Pay: R6 000,00 - R10 000,00 per month

• High School (matric) (Preferred)

• Retail Sales: 1 year (Preferred)
