This recruitment is being undertaken by MESO's Income Generation Unit, which delivers professional services to the mining industry, government institutions and the private sector. Revenue generated through this unit is reinvested into education, environmental conservation, skills development and community upliftment programmes.

Position Overview

MESO invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Site Manager to lead a vegetation clearance and environmental rehabilitation project.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall planning, coordination and management of site operations while ensuring compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and manage daily site operations.
• Supervise supervisors, general workers and administrative personnel.
• Coordinate vegetation clearing, weed eradication and environmental rehabilitation activities.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly progress reports.
• Conduct toolbox talks, site inspections and risk assessments.
• Manage project resources, vehicles, equipment and materials.
• Liaise with clients and project stakeholders.
• Monitor project performance against programme and budget.
• Promote a positive safety culture and effective teamwork.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• National Diploma or Degree in Environmental Management, Horticulture, Forestry, Agriculture, Conservation, Natural Resource Management or a related field.
• Minimum five (5) years' relevant experience managing vegetation clearance, landscaping, environmental rehabilitation or similar projects.
• Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams.
• Valid South African Driver's Licence.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
• Excellent communication, leadership and report writing skills.

Added Advantages

Preference will be given to candidates with:

• Previous experience working on infrastructure, environmental or rehabilitation projects.
• Knowledge of environmental legislation and vegetation management.
• Health and Safety training.
• First Aid Certificate.
• Fire Fighting Certificate.
• Herbicide application experience.
• Experience managing teams and contractors.
