Snr Network Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Network Technician to join our dynamic IT team, focused on maintaining and enhancing our network infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the durability and efficiency of our communication systems, playing a critical part in supporting our operational needs. The position will be on a mine managing the infrastructure for 5 mines.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve disruptions efficiently.
• Conduct regular network assessments and capacity planning to accommodate future growth and changes.
• Collaborate with IT team members on network upgrades, installations, and maintenance projects.
• Maintain network security protocols to protect sensitive information and prevent unauthorized access.
• Prepare and maintain documentation for network configurations, processes, and policies.
• Provide technical support and consultancy for network-related queries from staff and stakeholders.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance network efficiency and functionality.
• Assisting Service Delivery Manager with his duties

Requirements

• Proven expertise in network configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting, specifically with routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Demonstrable experience with network monitoring tools and software, as well as a solid understanding of network security principles.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess complex network issues systematically.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with technical and non-technical team members.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Experience with cloud networking solutions and virtual networking technologies is a plus.
• Familiarity with scripting or automation tools to enhance network operations.
• Previous experience in a similar role within a large enterprise environment is advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years experience
