SASSA Jobs — How to Apply
The South African Social Security Agency administers grant payments nationwide. SASSA advertises its posts on its own site and in the national press rather than on job boards, which is why they rarely appear in an aggregator feed.
Before you apply, have this ready
- A South African ID — or a valid work permit if you are not a citizen.
- An up-to-date CV as a PDF, with a phone number and email address that both work.
- A completed Z83 form. Public service applications are made on the official Z83 form. An application sent without it is not considered, no matter how strong your CV is.
- Certified copies of your qualifications — certification is usually accepted for six months, so check the date on the stamp before you send them.
- The closing date, in writing. Government posts close on a fixed date and late applications are not accepted, including ones delayed in the post.
No agent can guarantee you a SASSA post. Anyone asking for payment to “secure” a job, submit your CV or arrange an interview is running a scam. Report it and walk away.

How do I apply for a job at SASSA?
Applications are made on SASSA’s own careers portal, linked on this page. You will normally need to create a profile once, then apply to individual posts from it. SASSA does not charge to apply, and no legitimate employer in South Africa asks for a fee, a deposit or your banking details as part of an application.
Does SASSA have vacancies right now?

Do I need experience or a matric certificate to work at SASSA?
It depends entirely on the post. Entry-level roles generally ask for a National Senior Certificate (matric) and no formal experience, while specialist, technical and management posts set their own requirements. Every advert states its own minimum requirements - read those rather than assuming.
Is there a fee to apply, or an agent who can guarantee me a job?
