Before you apply, have this ready
- A South African ID — or a valid work permit if you are not a citizen.
- An up-to-date CV as a PDF, with a phone number and email address that both work.
- Your matric certificate if you have one. Many store roles accept applicants without one, so apply either way.
- Your availability — retail rosters cover evenings, weekends and public holidays, and being flexible is often what decides it.
- A contactable reference from any previous work, including informal or seasonal jobs.
No agent can guarantee you a Shoprite post. Anyone asking for payment to “secure” a job, submit your CV or arrange an interview is running a scam. Report it and walk away.
What Shoprite hires for
Frequently asked questions
How do I apply for a job at Shoprite?
Applications are made on Shoprite’s own careers portal, linked on this page. You will normally need to create a profile once, then apply to individual posts from it. Shoprite does not charge to apply, and no legitimate employer in South Africa asks for a fee, a deposit or your banking details as part of an application.
Does Shoprite have vacancies right now?
We are tracking 609 Shoprite listings on this page, last refreshed on 14 October 2026. The official portal is still the authoritative list - it will usually carry posts that never reach a job board.
Do I need experience or a matric certificate to work at Shoprite?
It depends entirely on the post. Entry-level roles generally ask for a National Senior Certificate (matric) and no formal experience, while specialist, technical and management posts set their own requirements. Every advert states its own minimum requirements - read those rather than assuming.
Is there a fee to apply, or an agent who can guarantee me a job?
No. Applying to Shoprite is free and no one can guarantee you a post. Any person or WhatsApp group asking for payment to "secure" a job, submit your CV or arrange an interview is running a scam. Report it and walk away.
